Amanda McDermott Gets Mentioned In Weekly Wrap-ups From Old Dominion Speedway and Dave Menefee

Mark Miller broke the Chris Donnelly's stranglehold on the Redman Fleet Service Grand Stock division, picking up his first win in 2005 after Donnelly and early leader Michael Hardin tangled while battling for the lead. Miller dodged the wreck, and held off Scott Quesenberry for the win. Rounding out the top five were Amanda McDermott, Johnny Lowery, and Steve Hamilton. Other racing action for the night included the Mini Modifieds, won by Bobby Able with Scott Roux finishing second for his best ever finish.

Former Redman Service Grand Stock track champion Greg Compton took home his first feature win in 2005, as he dominated the field in the 100-lap event. Compton, who started on the pole, led flag to flag for the win. Michael Hardin, who had run second for most of the night and had a shot at the win late in the going, developed rear end problems and had to park his ride for the night. This gave Robert Bruce the runner-up spot, followed by Rusty Murphy, Mark Miller, and point leader Chris Donnelly. Amanda McDermott took home the MARF Hard Charger Award courtesy of McGee Crane Rental and Convenience Car Care by starting from the 13th spot and finishing 8th.

Chris Donnelly took the checkers for the 8th time in 2005, winning the Redman Fleet Service Grand Stock 50-lap event. Donnelly, who had started from the 6th spot, took over the top spot from Amanda McDermott, the 17-year old young lady from Broad Run, Va., late in the going to secure the win. McDermott, who had started on the outside of row one and was running second, led her first laps in a Grand Stock after early leader Jimmy Hardin suffered a cut tire. Michael Hardin, coming up from his fifth starting spot, took the second position from McDermott late in the going and finished solid second. McDermott held on for third, while polesitter Mark Miller and Scott Quesenberry rounded out the top five.

The Redman Fleet Service Grand Stocks were featured in a 100-lap event, and Michael
Hardin took home his third win in 2005. Hardin dodged a mid race collision between early leader Greg Compton and Chris Donnelly to take home the checkers. Compton, who had led for most of the event, was tagged by Donnelly as the two exited turn four. Compton slammed hard into the front straight fence, damaging his ride. Donnelly was sent to the rear of the field, but was able to fight back and finish a respectable third. The top finishers in the event were Hardin, Les Miranda, who had returned in a new car after last week's hard crash in turn three, Donnelly, Amanda McDermott, and Eric George.

Amanda McDermott became the first female driver ever to win a Redman Fleet Service Grand Stock event. The 17-year old from Broad Run Va. took over the lead late in the going over early leader and current point leader Chris Donnelly after he developed tire problems with only a handful of laps remaining. Rounding out the top five were Robert Bruce, Michael Hardin, and Thomas VanDyke. With three races remaining, Donnelly has virtually clinched the championship, but Hardin still has a slim mathematical chance at the title.
